Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant

Winchester Gastroenterology Associates is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to be part of our growing and fast-paced practice. You will have the opportunity to work with an outstanding group of highly trained, board-certified Gastroenterologists along with a dynamic team of APP’s, both PA’s and CFNP’s. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

– Assesses the condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
– Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
– Prescribes, recommends and/or employs medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatments and procedures or performs indicated procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policies with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost.
– Recommends interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks.
– Formulates and implements comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans based on patient assessments, evidence-based medicine, standards of care, professional practice guidelines and in collaboration with physicians and other interdisciplinary team members when appropriate. Evaluates patient’s response to health care provided and the effectiveness of care.
– Counsels patients and families regarding medical processes, management of the health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion. Counsels patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with other substances such as food supplements, over the counter medications, and herbal remedies.
– Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes. Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice and/or expertise.
– Provides consultation level services for conditions/problems related to the Provider’s specialty and training in the clinic and hospital settings.
– May be required to perform patient care duties beyond regular schedule based on coverage needs of the department.
– Communicate with collaborating physician and other staff regarding patient care.

Medical Receptionist / Scheduler

Growing Gastroenterology Office looking for a full-time Scheduler. Must be flexible, dependable as well as an out-going individual with strong work ethic and integrity. Excellent customer service and communication skills with a professional and friendly demeanor is essential. Must be a team player, able to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

– Answering of incoming calls. Working check-out desk. Routinely checks and responds to voicemail messages within defined time periods. Documents communication in patient record as appropriate. Completing of tasks in a timely manner.
– Scheduling of new and follow up office appointments. Scheduling out-patient procedures such as Colonoscopies and UGI Endoscopies.
– Creates, updates and verifies patient demographic and insurance information for accuracy.
– Knowledge of specific insurance requirements.
– Instructs/educates patients on their upcoming procedures including all aspects of the required prep per established office protocols.
– Able to communicate effectively and respectfully with all other staff members.
– Maintains patient confidentiality, HIPAA rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned by Scheduling Supervisor.

Clinical Assistant

Busy gastroenterology office looking for a full-time Clinical Assistant to join our team. Must be flexible, dependable, and an outgoing individual with strong work ethics and integrity. Medical experience required. Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred. Must have knowledge of the digestive system and its functions. Looking for an individual who has excellent customer service skills with a professional and friendly demeanor. Must be a team player, able to multi-task, and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Must demonstrate an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient as well as our practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES

– Float to various positions in the office that need assistance
– Perform specialty breath testing
– Cover clinical staff when off; late or leaving early
– Complete forms and paperwork as instructed
– Takes vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, respirations) as well as height/weight and accurately records results in patient’s chart
– Records all of the patient’s current medications in the appropriate section of the chart
– Performs intramuscular immunizations and injections
– Triage patient and obtain history pertinent to physician seeing patient
– Notify physician of any significant health changes or hospitalizations
– Obtain any necessary reports, hospital records, etc. to assist in patient care
– Notifies provider when patient is ready for examination
– Assists provider with examinations and procedures as needed
– Answers telephone and acts as a patient relations representative for the practice by taking care of the needs of the caller within the scope of his/her knowledge and practices standards
– Adhere to OSHA and HIPAA guidelines
– Maintain clean and orderly exam rooms
– Informs the provider of acute or significant changes in the patient’s condition or symptomatology and provides follow up care as directed
– Organizes and prepares the charts for clinic
– Works within a team to support clinical floor
– Performs other tasks or services deemed necessary by the provider or supervisor
